Vancouver on the Cusp of Big Climate Action

In late 2021, the Vancouver City Council voted unanimously to extend an important moratorium that protects Vancouver from major new fossil fuel terminals. In 2022, Vancouver will make important decisions about energy that impact community health and safety, including an effort to make permanent the city’s prohibition on new or expanded large-scale fossil fuel facilities. More Fracked Gas Pollution? Not on Our Watch

The Oregon Dept. of Environmental Quality’s stunning proposal to increase harmful air pollution at a Portland General Electric fracked gas power plant met fierce opposition from Columbia Riverkeeper members and our partners. Thousands of people voiced their opposition to a massive increase in smog-forming pollution in surrounding communities and the Columbia Gorge Scenic Area.
