Big Win for Farmers and Clean Water We won a key legal victory to protect communities and clean water. Oregon’s Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) overturned Columbia County’s approval of a 400-car rail yard that would have served an unconventional diesel refinery in the Columbia River Estuary. |

Dam Oil Spill According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Little Goose Dam leaked 300 to 600 gallons of oil into the Snake River over 90-days. This is unacceptable. Columbia Riverkeeper will continue our long standing work to protect the Columbia and Snake rivers from hydroelectric dams and hold dam operators accountable for polluting rivers. |

November is Native American Heritage Month Support our work in solidarity with Tribal Nations and Indigenous people. The Goldendale Pumped Storage development is proposed on Pushpum—a sacred site to the Yakama Nation, a place where there is an abundance of traditional foods and medicines. The developer proposed excavating Indigenous Traditional Cultural Properties, historic and archaeological resources, and impacting access to exercise ceremonial practices and Treaty-gathering rights. Notably, the project site covers the ancestral village site of the Willa-witz-pum Band and the Yakama fishing site called As’num, where Yakama tribal fishermen continue to practice their treaty-fishing rights. |

Speakers include Dr. Alissa Cordner, Co-director of the PFAS Project Lab and Associate Professor at Whitman College, and Megan Liu, Science and Policy Manager for Toxic-Free Future, unpacking why PFAS are bad and what you can do to protect yourself and clean water.
