Make a Difference for People in Your Community: Membership Drive

When thousands of people unite to fight for clean water, the magic happens. We believe that access to clean water is a basic human right. To us, this means that we should all have clean drinking water coming out of the taps and access to clean rivers where we can swim, play, work, and catch fish and other wild foods without fear of toxic pollution. It is our pleasure and privilege to defend your right to clean water. Your contributions make it all possible. Become a Columbia Riverkeeper member now with your critical donation.

Your Powered Victories in 2022

Columbia Riverkeeper had a banner year of victories for our climate and clean water. You stopped a climate-wrecking gas-fired power plant and a fracked gas-to-methanol refinery. You prevented thousands of pounds of toxic pollution from flowing into the Columbia by taking polluters to court. And much more! Pause. Relish. Celebrate.

Big Plans for 2023

We head into 2023 with momentum, and we set our sights high to tackle the pressing issues facing Columbia River communities. With your continued partnership, we will: take on corporate polluters; fight for environmental justice by holding the U.S. government accountable for toxic and radioactive pollution at the most toxic place in America, the Hanford Nuclear Site; stand in solidarity with Tribal Nations to restore strong salmon runs and protect sacred sites; and inspire the next generation of river protectors.

Latest on Proposed Columbia River Estuary Refinery

The Columbia River Estuary is one of the largest and most ecologically important estuaries in North America. Now, a Houston-based corporation wants to build the nation’s largest non-conventional diesel refinery in the heart of the Estuary using massive amounts of fossil fuels. Check out our FAQ to understand why an alleged “climate-friendly” proposal is rife with problems for our climate, the Estuary, and surrounding communities.

Environmental Justice Victory

Great news! We won after years of fighting the Trump administration’s effort to gut water quality laws that protect people who regularly eat locally-caught fish and shellfish in Washington state. Represented by Earthjustice and working with the Makah Tribe and partners, our legal challenge and continued advocacy led to a major win for clean water for all.
