What’s Next with GTN?

Columbia Riverkeeper and Rogue Climate, supported by a diverse coalition, plan to challenge FERC's approval of the GTN Xpress pipeline expansion. Elected officials, including Governors Inslee and Kotek, criticized FERC for ignoring regional climate goals. Despite widespread opposition, many remain unaware of the project's dangers. Thank you to our dedicated activists and coalition members as the fight continues.

Trump Rollback Fixed?!?

Thanks to Earthjustice and partners, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is now giving more power to states and tribes to protect clean water. This means communities can have more say in keeping their water safe. This revision gives individual states and some Tribes the ability to review the impacts of federally-licensed projects, like oil and gas pipelines, on waterways and wetlands within their borders.

Breaking News: Refinery Merger Fails

Last week, Oregon Business magazine reported that the massive diesel refinery proposed at Port Westward in the Columbia River Estuary failed to complete a lucrative merger as planned. Despite the refinery’s increasingly uncertain future, Port of Columbia County recently displaced local mint and cattle farming operations to make room for the refinery.

Volunteering Makes a Big Impact

Thank you to volunteers who attended Columbia Riverkeeper’s River Clean Up in September. With 45 volunteers, we collected 690 pounds of litter from the banks of the river. That’s a lot of trash, and we couldn't have done it without you. Through the Engaging Communities program, we aim to connect people to the river and celebrate the diverse, vibrant cultures within river communities.
