Victory for Clean Water

After a three-year legal effort by Columbia Riverkeeper, the Port of Vancouver USA will make over $27 million in updates to failing water quality systems. Why is this a big deal for salmon and people who rely on a clean Columbia? As one of the largest public ports in Washington state with direct connections to the Columbia River, the settlement will lead to major changes in the amount of toxic pollution flowing into the Columbia.

Shady Deals Undermine Climate Action

Two great articles by Street Roots and Desmog highlight the fight to shut down the Zenith oil-by-rail facility in Portland. Demand the City of Portland reconsider the approval of Zenith and include public input.

You’re in for a treat!

Partner Spotlight: Cowlitz Indian Tribe

Columbia Riverkeeper is honored to work in solidarity with the Cowlitz Indian Tribe to restore strong salmon runs on the Lewis River. Because of sustained leadership from the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and others, earlier this month PacifiCorp agreed to a new schedule to implement full fish passage into the Lewis River. Columbia Riverkeeper will continue our work to hold PacifiCorps accountable for its promises to Tribes and the public.

Take Action:

  • Stop GTN Xpress Pipeline: FERC could meet as soon as October 19, 2023, to vote on the gas pipeline expansion. Last chance to weigh in! Call the White House and ask President Biden to publicly oppose GTN Xpress.
